The Water Filtration Process

Then the water passes through preconditioning, in which water with high mineral content is treated with sodium carbonate.
Then lastly, the prechlorination process, wherein chlorine is applied to raw water that may contain high concentrations of natural organic matter.
Once the water is pretreated, it will now go through the filtration process.
Coagulation and Flocculation
This is the first process of water filtration. Chemicals are added to the water for the dirt and dissolve particles to bind together, forming a larger particle called flor.
After most of the suspended particles have settled, the water enters the sedimentation basin. During this process, the floc is already heavy and falls and settles to the bottom of the water tank.
The clear water on top passes through sand gravel and charcoal filters to remove dissolved particles such as dust, parasites, bacteria, viruses, and chemicals.
Disinfection is the final step in water filtration. During which, harmful microbes, such as bacteria, viruses, and protozoa, are killed through the addition of disinfectant chemicals.
